The UH Festival in 2018 was opened by a joint performance of John Duncan soundartist-performer-fine artist, James Hamilton electric organist and Soharóza with the works of Red Sky and Terra Amarra composed by John Duncan. The noise of short-wave radios and environmental recordings are examples of characteristics in the music of the Californian artist, however the composition Mantra from 2017 experiments with the human voice. That is the reason why he asked for the presence of a choir who is known for experimenting, improvising and theatrical cooperations. During our joint work we experimented with sound, special timbres and tonicity, as well as repetitive, mantra-like forms. In the end the singers experienced singing as a physical achievement also (e.g. holding a tone with great energy throughout several minutes) besides its aesthetic value.
